CHARACTERS IN SCENE:
ARMENIA/ARTHUR: Princess of Medi who wants to take the throne from her father and brother. Disguised as Arthur, a servant from Albion working for the Independent Investigator.
PRINCE: Prince of Medi, a young dreamer who wants to change the kingdom but is idealistic in his views. In love with Lia, who he thinks is a servant of Albion.
Palace of Medi
Enter Armenia
Armenia: I know I have said this many a time now, but it must be said my plan is brilliant and is flawless in its tactic. Princess and brother are having to fight to stay apart now; each having entirely different reasoning for not wanting to fall as they have. Who shall be the first to crack? Which one is strongest in resistance?
Princess is young and strong, but already she asks others of love to see whether her heart has truly fallen or no. And Wilson tells her to be true to her feelings, her Evangeline, and hold onto them—surely that’s good cause for her to tell Prince her secret and love him in front of Father’s eyes.
And Prince—he hath always been a dreamer; surely if this girl is his dream he shall break from tradition and go with servant. Yes, one shall crack and then Medi will act on their discovery—and I, as a servant, can do nothin’ to save them from their punishment. Will be interesting surely to see reaction of cruel King.
Father holds back on being cruel to visitors. So Medi’s Princess shall bring the cruel to the attention of the independent instead. A letter on royal paper, signed by Palace stamp, with writings of violence towards Wilson’s lost secret love. The love of Evangeline—the old Queen of Medi—My Mother, the Venus. She wants me to torture, for me to rule instead of Father. I shall make sure that I do; this letter shall persuade war to start and then finally the Queen shall rule over man once more. Medi is falling, see it shatter. Its base will go, whilst Princess shall rise from the ashes. Only few more days of patience and Armenia shall return to take her rightful place. Ha! Fun.
[Enter Prince]
Prince: Ah Arthur, just who I wished to find.
Armenia: Yes m’lord, how may I assist?
Prince: It is complicated, what I wish. Very complicated. However I cannot think of any other servant I wish to do this task.
Armenia: There is your own servant.
Prince I fear something wrong with my attendant. His tongue hath vanished from within his mouth; he will not speak as he cannot speak. I worry my Father’s cruelty has come to fore again and he has tortured the man by pulling out his taste.
Armenia: Is he fine?
Prince: He still stands, and is capable of swallowing, but his life is painful now that torture has befallen him.
Armenia: There is pity in your voice. Are you not your Father’s son?
Prince: That does not mean I believe he is right in doing what he does. My attendant was my friend, and now he is broken. Broken like an old clicking clock, yet he has not the experience of the ancients. Most disturbing.
Armenia: This task would not be good enough for him?
Prince: No, not now. He would inform Father straight away of my actions now that he is in fear. Also I wish this task to be done with voice, which he does not have anymore.
Armenia: Then allow me to assist you.
Prince: You do not fear it happening to you?
Armenia: I am of Albion and independent. I do not work for Medi.
Prince: As long as you are sure.
Armenia: I am sure.
Prince: I must profess to someone Arthur—I feel a warmth in my heart I have never felt afore.
Armenia: Oh. And who does thy heart pine for?
Prince: I fear—No, I know that it is for—a girl, a very special girl. My Father would not approve; my Father never approves.
Armenia: You fear far too much. You say in me you can trust, if so then speak. I shall not harm you young Prince, this girl shall be friend. Promise Prince; promise.
Prince: She is already your friend Arthur for it is for Lia my heart bleeds. Lia! Lia! There, I profess to all, I have fallen for Lia like a fool does for his cockscomb. I am stuck and lost of what to do—But, Arthur—I must tell her. I must say how I feel. It is too much a burden to keep to myself. If she does not feel the same then I shall fight to forget, but if we are made to be together then I wish it to be so. At least one time, I must let our hearts blend together.
Armenia: I see. I have seen for a while now.
Prince: You have?
Armenia: Lia walks round with roses in her cheeks, even independent notices that.
Prince: Her rosy cheeks are for me?
Armenia: Sire, her rosy cheeks are for love.
Prince: I must know for sure, Arthur. I must see her alone and profess to her. Can you pass on my message to meet in the courtyard where the stars cross over Orion? It shall make me most indebted to you if you do.
Armenia: Sire, I would be most happy too. Young love is important to all concerned.
Prince: And do not tell anyone else of my actions. I can trust you with that.
Armenia: Sire, my lips are closed to all but your love.
Prince: Thank you Arthur, thank you very much indeed. I shall repay you for this. I shall reward you for your actions.
Armenia: Indeed.
[Exit Prince]
Aha! So brother cracks first. He is the weaker of the two. And Medi, Medi will be thrilled to see his weaknesses highlighted, I am sure.
[Exeunt]
