Recipe: Earth Nation ‘Cabbage Carts’ Vol-Au-Vents

There's nothing more upsetting and iconic from Avatar: The Last Airbender than a broken cart of cabbages. These little edible carts feature a creamy, sweet and salty blue cheese mousse, an earthy filling of mushroom, apple and nuts and some soft mini-cabbages to sell (Brussel Sprouts glazed with apple jelly). If somebody destroys/eats one of these they'll have you screaming 'my cabbages'...

Recipe: Fire Nation Crème Brûlée Tarts

'Everything changed when the fire nation attacked...' (Avatar: The Last Airbender). These little canape tarts (which can also be made into bigger versions for a full dessert if you wish) feature a tea custard for our tea-loving Uncle Iroh and a little pack of 'fire flakes' (chilli caramel shards) to sprinkle on top and set on fire/burn/melt.

Turning Stories to Food

Avatar: The Last Pastry Bender (Stories Turned Into Food)

I had a lot of ideas (as usual) for what I could make or what I could focus on from the themes etc. of the show. Ultimately I chose one that really is the basic of Avatar: The Last Airbender; it even starts the show every episode: ‘Water, Earth, Fire, Air—only the Avatar is the master of all four elements’. The Avatar, at it’s core, is a representative of the four different nations and the four different bending styles. Whilst they may belong to one race of person, they belong to everyone—they have to be unbiased and fight for all the nations, even if it may be hard.
